How to Verify a Cartagena Bachelor Party Operator
Updated: September 8, 2026 · CABÚ Viajes, local operator in Cartagena, RNT 215668.
Verifying a Cartagena bachelor party operator takes less than ten minutes and costs nothing: you check their tourism registration, the legality of their boats, and how they ask to be paid. This guide shows you how to run those checks on any company — including ours.
We wrote it because the real risk of a Cartagena bachelor or bachelorette party isn't the city — it's wiring a deposit to a beautiful website with nobody behind it. Traveler forums repeat the same story: bookings cancelled out of nowhere, villa locations that change twice, and providers who ask for full payment "to secure the date" and then stop answering.
If you have not shortlisted anyone yet, this page is the check you run on one company; the four kinds of outfit that organise parties here, the six red flags, and when CABÚ is not your best option are on how to choose an operator.
Step 1: look them up in the public RNT registry
Every tourism provider in Colombia — agencies, operators, tourist rentals — must hold an active National Tourism Registry (RNT). You can search it free, by name or number, in the public RNT database, run by Confecámaras.
What to check: that the registration exists, that it is active (not suspended), and that the registered name matches the company charging you. If an operator doesn't appear, they are not licensed to sell to you. Ours is 215668.
Step 2: the boat is where most of the lying happens
Most of this market's irregularities are on boat day. Three rules from Colombia's Maritime Authority (Dimar) that protect you:
- Recreational boats cannot legally be chartered. In Cartagena, vessels registered as recreational or sport craft may not be rented out — only vessels registered for commercial passenger transport. It is the single most common illegality in bachelor party boat rentals. Source: Dimar.
- Departures only from authorized points: nautical clubs, marinas, and the La Bodeguita tourist pier. If you're told to meet at a beach or an informal dock, treat it as a red flag. Source: Dimar.
- The vessel must be registered in Sitmar for departure to be authorized. Ask the operator for the boat's name and check before you board. Source: Dimar.
Step 3: how they charge tells you who they are
The standard for a serious Cartagena operator is a deposit to lock your dates and the balance before the trip, with a company invoice. Red flags — all documented in real cases:
- Asking for 100% upfront, especially to a personal account or by wire with no invoice.
- Artificial urgency: "the villa goes today", "the price rises tomorrow".
- Changing the villa's location after the deposit is paid.
- Refusing to put in writing what the price includes and what it does not.
A legitimate operator is never offended when you ask for an invoice, a contract, or their RNT. The one who gets offended is the one you cross off.
Step 4: real social proof, not set dressing
- Photos and videos of real groups, not stock shots of villas and yachts. Ask to see material from a recent trip.
- Dated reviews with history, on a public profile you can open yourself. A high rating declared on the company's own website, with no visible reviews behind it, is worth nothing.
- Advertised capacity is not comfortable capacity. Don't divide the villa price by the advertised maximum — ask how many real beds there are.
- "Staffed" means nothing by itself. Ask exactly what it includes: a chef, or someone who cooks breakfast? Overnight security, or a daytime doorman?
- Years under the same brand. Ghost websites change names; real operators accumulate history.
The 8 questions to ask in writing before paying
- What is your RNT and under whose name is it registered?
- What percentage is the deposit and when is the balance due?
- Do I get a company invoice? Which account is paid?
- What exactly does the price include — and what does it NOT include?
- What is the boat's name and which pier does it depart from?
- What happens if it rains on boat day?
- What happens if the villa doesn't match what was quoted?
- Who looks after me in Cartagena during the trip, and on which channel?
Any serious operator answers all eight without hedging. We answer them in the quote, before you pay anything: bachelor parties · bachelorette parties · what a Cartagena bachelor party costs.
Frequently asked questions
What is the RNT and why does it matter?
The National Tourism Registry is Colombia's mandatory registry of tourism providers. Without an active RNT, a company is not legally licensed to sell tourism services. You can search it free at rnt.confecamaras.co.
How do I know the boat for my party is legal?
Ask for the vessel's name and verify three things: it is registered for commercial passenger transport (not as a recreational craft), it is listed in Sitmar, and it departs from an authorized point — a nautical club, a marina, or the La Bodeguita tourist pier.
How much deposit is normal to pay upfront?
Serious operators work with a partial deposit to lock dates and the balance before the trip, always with an invoice. Paying 100% upfront to a personal account is not the market standard and is the red flag travelers themselves cite most.

Already decided? The next two steps are open on the site rather than behind a call: the day-by-day itinerary for 3, 4 and 5 nights — which day the boat goes, when the big night lands and what to book first — and how payment works: deposit, balance, company invoice, and what must be in writing before you pay anything.
Three more worth reading before you decide
- How it compares: Cartagena vs Las Vegas, Nashville, Miami and Scottsdale — dimension by dimension, including where Cartagena loses.
- Colombia beyond Cartagena: the best bachelor party destinations in Colombia, and when Medellín is the better call.
- The safety question, answered with sources: is Cartagena safe for a bachelor party.
The five pages that answer the rest
All of it is open on the site, with no form in the way:
- The number, now: the budget calculator — people, nights and level, and it returns the per-person price with the breakdown.
- Which house and which boat fit a group of 6, 12 or 18: by group size.
- Which day each thing goes on: the 3, 4 and 5-night itinerary, with the five mistakes groups repeat most.
- If someone offers you a fixed package: what it must include before you can compare it.
- How to pay without risking the deposit: deposit, invoice and what goes in writing.
- If you want somebody local running it on the ground: what a Cartagena concierge covers, and what it costs per day.

Send these five things and nothing else is needed: the dates or the month, how many nights, how many people, what is non-negotiable for this group, and the city everyone is flying from.
- Within 24 hours on a working day you get two or three houses or boats that actually fit those dates, with what we checked on each one, and an itemised quote: each line priced separately, what is included and what is not, and the payment calendar. No agency fee.
- You choose. Nothing is held or booked until you confirm in writing. If nothing fits, we say so instead of pushing a substitute.
- Deposit against a company invoice — never 100% upfront, never to a personal account — and each traveller can pay her own share and receive her own receipt.
- One named contact on WhatsApp before, during and after the trip, who answers at eleven at night on the 31st. RNT 215668, verifiable in the public Colombian registry.
December and the first week of January are quoted on the actual house, in writing, because those two weeks sell out first.
Tell us what you need and get it back in 24 hours
You do not need to have it all decided. With these four things we send a real quote, not a brochure:
- Dates (or the month) and how many nights.
- How many people. Here you pay per unit: the house, the boat and the van cost the same for 8 people as for 16, so the headcount moves the per-person price a lot.
- What is non-negotiable for the group: an island day on a private boat, a chef at the house, a club table.
- Where you are flying from, and whether everyone lands the same day.
In under 24 hours you get an itemized breakdown per unit with what is included and what is not, plus the payment schedule: a deposit to hold the house and the balance before the trip, against a company invoice. No agency fee and no commitment — the quote is a draft open to changes, and nothing is reserved until you confirm.
