Bachelor Party in Cartagena from Mexico 2026-2027: Complete Guide
Cartagena became the favorite destination for Mexican bachelor parties for three concrete reasons: no visa required, a direct Aeroméxico flight from Mexico City of four hours and ten minutes, and the cost of a full colonial house with a yacht and driver works out cheaper per person than a weekend in Los Cabos. And there's no longer a mandatory migration form: Migración Colombia stopped requiring the Check-Mig. The form still exists and is free, but filling it out is optional.
Entry requirements for Mexicans
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Visa | Not required for tourism. Up to 90 days, extendable to 180 per calendar year |
| Passport | Minimum 6 months validity and 2 blank pages |
| Check-Mig | No longer mandatory. Free and voluntary; speeds up immigration control. Online, between 72 h and 1 h before the flight |
| Return ticket | Immigration may ask for it |
| Lodging and proof of funds | Confirmation of the house or hotel and a card or cash |
Flights from Mexico
| Origin | How to get there |
|---|---|
| Mexico City (MEX) | Direct with Aeroméxico, three flights a week, approximately 4h 10min |
| Guadalajara and Monterrey | One layover, usually in Mexico City or Bogotá |
| Airport to Historic Center | 15 to 20 minutes. We coordinate a private van for the whole group |
The 4-day plan most requested by Mexican groups
- Day 1 — Arrival: private transfer from the airport to the house, check-in and a night of clubs in the Historic Center or Getsemaní with reserved access.
- Day 2 — Cholón: private yacht all day to the Barú anchorage, with food and drinks on board coordinated in advance.
- Day 3 — Rosario Islands: a beach and beach-club day, clear water and snorkeling. Return before sunset.
- Day 4 — House and closing: pool, private chef at the house and a farewell dinner on a terrace over the wall.
How the price breaks down
Four items: house, boat, transport and activities. The first three are charged per unit, not per person. The house costs the same for 8 as for 20 people, and so do the yacht and the van. That's why a group of 20 works out cheaper per head than the same trip for 8. The biggest line item is the boat: 850 to 3,800 USD for a full day depending on size. We don't charge an agency commission: you pay the provider's real rate.
Money: what to bring
- The Mexican peso doesn't exchange well in Cartagena. Currency exchange houses work with dollars and euros.
- Bring dollars or withdraw Colombian pesos from an ATM.
- International credit cards work at hotels, restaurants, clubs and beach clubs.
- Keep cash in Colombian pesos for the dock departure tax and tips.
Frequently asked questions from Mexican groups
Do Mexicans need a visa for Colombia?
No. Mexican nationals enter Colombia without a visa for tourism and can stay up to 90 days, extendable to 180 per calendar year. The Check-Mig form is no longer mandatory: Migración Colombia stopped requiring it, though it's still available and free. What you do need is a passport valid for at least 6 months with 2 blank pages.
How long is the flight from Mexico to Cartagena?
The direct Aeroméxico flight between Mexico City and Cartagena takes approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes, and operates three times a week (verified August 2026). From Guadalajara or Monterrey you'll need one layover, usually in Mexico City or Bogotá. From Cartagena's airport to the Historic Center is 15 to 20 minutes by car.
How much does a bachelor party in Cartagena cost for Mexican groups?
It depends on the group size. The house, yacht and transport are charged per unit and split among everyone, so the per-person price drops a lot as the group grows. The biggest line item is the boat: 850 to 3,800 USD for a full day. We don't charge an agency commission. We send the per-person breakdown in under 24 hours.
Cartagena or Cancún for a bachelor party?
Cancún is closer and cheaper to fly to. Cartagena wins on three things: full colonial houses for the group inside a walled city, the Cholón boat day that has no equivalent, and nightlife concentrated within walking distance. For groups of 10 or more, the per-person cost in Cartagena usually comes out even or lower.
What is Cholón?
It's a shallow-water anchorage next to Barú island, an hour by boat from Cartagena, where boats anchor together and a floating daytime party atmosphere forms. It's not a beach: the plan happens on the boat and in the water, which comes up to your waist. It's the classic stop for bachelor parties.
How many days should we plan for?
Four days is what Mexican groups request most and what fits best: one club night, one Cholón day, one Rosario Islands day and one house day with a chef. Three is enough but feels tight because you have to subtract the travel day. Five adds daily cost without adding much to the plan.
Is Cartagena safe for a bachelor party?
Yes, in the tourist areas that groups use. The real risk isn't the city: it's informal boats without documentation and drinks with no agreed price. We physically inspect every boat before offering it, we're a registered operator with RNT 215668, and we put everything in writing before you travel.
How far in advance should we book?
Two months minimum, and more if you're traveling between December and April, which is dry season and the big houses and best boats sell out first. Booking two months ahead gets you a 10% discount. For groups over 20, it's best to start three months out.

Written by Marta Fernández, founder of CABÚ Viajes, local tourism operator in Cartagena de Indias registered with Colombia's National Tourism Registry under RNT 215668. CABÚ runs bachelor(ette) parties, group trips and private experiences in Cartagena by contracting directly with the city's houses, boats, restaurants and providers, with no middlemen.
Nobody has to pay for everyone
Each person in the group can pay us their share directly, with their own receipt. Whoever organizes does not have to front the whole trip and then become the group's debt collector — which is, in practice, what wrecks most bachelor and bachelorette parties before they start.
The deposit holds the house and can be split; the balance is divided on a written schedule, and we track who has paid and share that with you. How payment works, in full.
The five pages that answer the rest
All of it is open on the site, with no form in the way:
- The number, now: the budget calculator — people, nights and level, and it returns the per-person price with the breakdown.
- Which house and which boat fit a group of 6, 12 or 18: by group size.
- Which day each thing goes on: the 3, 4 and 5-night itinerary, with the five mistakes groups repeat most.
- If someone offers you a fixed package: what it must include before you can compare it.
- How to pay without risking the deposit: deposit, invoice and what goes in writing.
- If you want somebody local running it on the ground: what a Cartagena concierge covers, and what it costs per day.

Send these five things and nothing else is needed: the dates or the month, how many nights, how many people, what is non-negotiable for this group, and the city everyone is flying from.
- Within 24 hours on a working day you get two or three houses or boats that actually fit those dates, with what we checked on each one, and an itemised quote: each line priced separately, what is included and what is not, and the payment calendar. No agency fee.
- You choose. Nothing is held or booked until you confirm in writing. If nothing fits, we say so instead of pushing a substitute.
- Deposit against a company invoice — never 100% upfront, never to a personal account — and each traveller can pay her own share and receive her own receipt.
- One named contact on WhatsApp before, during and after the trip, who answers at eleven at night on the 31st. RNT 215668, verifiable in the public Colombian registry.
December and the first week of January are quoted on the actual house, in writing, because those two weeks sell out first.
Tell us what you need and get it back in 24 hours
You do not need to have it all decided. With these four things we send a real quote, not a brochure:
- Dates (or the month) and how many nights.
- How many people. Here you pay per unit: the house, the boat and the van cost the same for 8 people as for 16, so the headcount moves the per-person price a lot.
- What is non-negotiable for the group: an island day on a private boat, a chef at the house, a club table.
- Where you are flying from, and whether everyone lands the same day.
In under 24 hours you get an itemized breakdown per unit with what is included and what is not, plus the payment schedule: a deposit to hold the house and the balance before the trip, against a company invoice. No agency fee and no commitment — the quote is a draft open to changes, and nothing is reserved until you confirm.
